Dandy's World Logo

Dandy's World is an exciting and unique entry in the world of Roblox games. 🎮 This thrilling horror escape game invites players to take control of the friendly character "Toon" 🧸, who must evade the terrifying enemy character known as "Twisted" 😱. Your primary objective is to operate the Ichor Machine ⚙️ to fix the elevator 🚪 and make your way down to the next floor. The game’s mechanics combine elements of strategy, quick thinking, and survival in a spooky yet manageable environment.

While Dandy's World is a horror game, it is designed to be less intense than other popular horror experiences like DOORS 🚪 or Rainbow Friends 🌈. As a result, players new to the horror genre can still enjoy the game without being overwhelmed by frightening scares. 🧑‍💻 It's perfect for beginners looking to dive into horror games in a more approachable and fun way.

⚖️ Game Play ⚖️

The overall gameplay begins when you step off the elevator 🚪, which serves as the starting point of the game. Your first task is to activate the Ichor Extraction Machine 💧 located on each floor, and then return to the elevator to continue the game. The elevator 🚠 will automatically move to the next floor after you complete the task. Each floor has a set of Ichor Extraction Machines, and your objective is to find and activate all of them in order to extract the Ichor. This is essential to progress through the game.

During the Ichor extraction process, a skill check will appear ⚙️, and you must press the button at the correct moment when the red line crosses the white and orange bars. The timing of this skill check is crucial ⏱️, as failure to do so will disrupt the extraction. If you fail the skill check, the Ichor stream will temporarily stop, an alarm 🚨 will sound, and the Twisted will be alerted and start moving toward the machine. The extraction process can be monitored visually, as you can see how full the Ichor is within the machine. Once extraction is complete, the machine’s light turns green 🟢, and a small amount of Ichor is dispensed, allowing you to continue.

While extracting Ichor, you need to be vigilant of the Twisted 👀. These enemies move lazily across the stage but will become aggressive 😠 and chase after players when they spot them. The Twisted have different speeds and attack methods, so it’s important to be aware of their behavior. If you are caught by a Twisted and attacked, your stamina 💪 will be reduced by 1, and you will have a moment of vulnerability while they pause their attack. This makes escaping or evading Twisted especially important to avoid losing precious stamina.

You can listen for specific sounds to determine if your teammates have been hit or eliminated by a Twisted. When a player is hit by a Twisted, you will hear a distinct impact sound 💥. If a player is eliminated, the sound of liquid pouring and tearing will be audible. In addition, players should be aware of other key sounds: the sound of Twisted Roger’s fake Ichor bottle being picked up 🍼, as well as the chains and breathing noises that indicate Twisted Razzle and Dazzle’s warning and activation 🐍. These auditory cues are crucial for identifying the presence of important Twisted and reacting accordingly.

Although Toons that are slow at extracting Ichor can still complete the extraction, their primary role in the game is to act as a decoy 🎭, luring Twisted away from other players. This allows faster players to extract Ichor without being interrupted. While this decoy role is not mandatory, it can provide a strategic advantage when executed correctly. Decoy players can help ensure that the game progresses smoothly by drawing the attention of the Twisted away from critical areas.

Once the final Ichor extraction is completed, the elevator doors will open 🚪, and a 30-second countdown ⏳ will begin. During this countdown, players will need to rush back to the elevator to avoid being caught by the Twisted. This is often the most intense part of the game ⚔️, as Twisted will frequently appear and chase after players in the final moments. Timing and strategy are critical, as you must carefully plan your route back to the elevator while avoiding danger.

After each round, the elevator will descend to the next floor 🏢. If you land on an even-numbered floor, Dandy’s Shop 🛒 will be available, offering various useful items for purchase, such as healing supplies or equipment that can aid in your survival. If you land on an odd-numbered floor, a player vote 🗳️ will take place, giving players the opportunity to influence certain aspects of the game. These votes can change the course of the game and are an important aspect of the strategic decision-making process.

🕺️ Dandy's Elevator Shop 🕺️

Every time you move to an even-numbered floor, you’ll step out of the elevator hatch and enter Dandy’s shop 🛒, where you can purchase three random items. These items can be bought with tape, a special currency that can only be used in each edition of the game. 🎟️ The variety of items can range from useful tools to completely random or even useless duplicates, which can sometimes frustrate players. 😤 Occasionally, items like bandages 🩹 or helki ⚙️ may be available for purchase, and these can prove useful in progressing through the game.

However, there’s an interesting twist: if none of the team members purchase more than three items, there is a chance that the hidden boss character, Twisted Dandy 🌀, will appear on the next floor. This adds an extra layer of strategy, as players must decide whether to spend their tape on items or risk summoning a powerful enemy. 😈

A popular opinion circulating among players is that if you don't buy anything from Dandy's elevator shop, the probability of encountering the main Twisted enemies increases. However, this is actually a misconception. As mentioned earlier, not purchasing items only increases the spawn probability of Twisted Dandy specifically, not the main Twisted enemies. 📉 So, be cautious of false rumors and understand how the game mechanics really work! 🧐

🌟️ Role Play 🌟️

Above, Shirimpo can be heard saying, “I hate the new door.” 🚪 This statement hints at some of the quirky and humorous elements within the game. 😆

An official role-play space was introduced as a response to the growing number of transformation role-play experiences that utilized game assets without permission. 🛑 This new space, updated on August 30th, can be accessed directly from the lobby. 🏢 Similar to other transformation role-plays, players can transform into any version of Twisted, including the infamous Twisted Dandy 🤖. The addition of this role-play space expands the game's fun and interactive environment, allowing for more personalized and creative gameplay.

One of the exciting features of this space is the ability to teleport to places that were previously inaccessible from the lobby, such as the Toon Dormitory 🏠 and various locations on each floor. 🌆 These teleportation options offer a new level of exploration within the game.

The Toon Dormitory, which many players may not have even known existed, is definitely worth exploring. 🛏️ Each toon seems to have their own personal space within this area, and each room is designed with a distinct personality. For example, Boxten 📦 and Poppy 🌸 keep their rooms neat, while Shrimpo 🦐’s room is quite messy. Glisten ✨ has a dressing table in their room, and Razzle and Dazzle 💫’s rooms are equipped with a beam projector.

In each room, players can discover text that appears to have been written by the toons themselves, providing a deeper layer of story and insight into their personalities. 📜 This story element helps reveal the relationships between the different toons, adding a rich narrative dimension to the game.

🧛 Dandy's World Terms 🧛

This term is useful on public servers, and is mostly mandatory on private servers, so get familiar with it.

  • gte/g2e
Get to elevator/get to exit is used to discover and extract the last machine so that slow-moving toons can move with confidence. In Korea, Daegi and ㄷㄱ are mainly used.
  • machiner/support/distracter
These terms are used when determining specific roles in private servers. "Machiner" refers to players who extract the Ichor, "support" refers to players offering assistance, and "distracter" refers to players who draw the Twisted away from others. Each Toon has its own role.
  • main hunt
A hunt focused on meeting the main Twisted characters (Twisted Astro, Pebble, Bee, Shelley, and Sprout) and collecting research points. Surviving past the 10th floor is crucial, and Dandy's Shop can be used unless otherwise stated at the start of the game.
  • Main run vs. Main hunt
It's important to note the difference between "main run" and "main hunt" as used by players, so be aware of these distinctions.
  • normal run/dandy run
In a Normal Run, players can use Dandy's Shop in the elevator, whereas in a Dandy Run, players cannot purchase anything from the shop. The condition for meeting Twisted Dandy is to avoid using the shop more than three times.
  • long run
A challenge-type run where players try to survive as many floors as possible. In this run, both individual player skills and team strategy are key. Players typically assign roles such as decoy, support, and extractor. The current world record has surpassed the 100th floor and is aiming for the 250th floor.
  • abc for [game type] run
This term means “If you want to play [game type] together, type abc.” The [game type] includes Normal Run, Dandy Run, Long Run, Ichor Run, and others. Additional rules or restrictions can be added by players.
  • abc for [any twisted] hunt
Similar to the "abc for [game type] run", but specifically for hunts targeting Twisted characters. In these hunts, players may use the Dandy Shop to encounter various Twisted characters. This can refer to both main hunts and hunts focusing on specific Twisted research requirements.
  • Example of a hunt
An example of a hunt could be 'abc for [Goob, Gigi, Glisten] hunt'. This term is also used in various ways in Korea.
  • Free floor
This term is used when only Razzle, Dazzle, Roger, and Connie appear on the current floor. These characters do not attack unless activated by specific conditions, allowing players to extract Ichor safely. However, trollers can make it more difficult on these floors.
  • prime/priming
Also known as 99%, this refers to filling the machine near the elevator almost completely. Once this is done, players can return after the remaining machines are filled, ensuring slow-moving toons can safely return without worrying about the countdown. However, there has been confusion about this term after the creation of Connie.
  • Bandage(band)/medkit, healthkit(kit, med)
These recovery items can be found in Dandy's Shop or on the floors. They are essential for surviving in the game, especially for long-term progress. It's considered polite to announce the location of these items in chat and pass them to important players or those in urgent need.
  • Spinning around in front of the machine
This indicates that a player has tools like jumper cables, valves, or wrenches, which allow them to instantly fill the machine. If you’re using the machine, make sure to stop extracting and move out of the way to allow faster progress.

🧟 Beginner discrimination problem 🧟

In fact, this is a representative issue within Dandy's World.

In every game, there are always players who don't respect beginners, but in Dandy's World, the situation is even worse. There are players who don't understand the game’s rules, and some go as far as trying to harm or disrupt beginners. There are even players who outright refuse to allow beginners into the lobby. Recently, some experienced players have even tried to approach these "toxic" players pretending to be beginners and educate them, though this has not been without its challenges.

The core issue lies in beginners' understanding of the game. When you first start playing Dandy's World, there is a brief introduction and an information menu at the bottom of the screen. This menu provides essential information about the gameplay, details about the Twisted characters, and instructions on how to escape from them. This should ideally help new players understand the game better. However, despite these resources, many beginners ignore them, which can create problems in the long run.

Another significant issue is the high number of experienced players who discriminate against beginners simply for being new. From the beginner's perspective, they just want to enjoy the game with others, but to the regular players, beginners are often seen as a burden. This creates a gap of trust between new and experienced players. Of course, there are some veteran players who try to help and support beginners, but if you're a beginner who hasn’t read the information menu, it could be hard to communicate or ask for help from these experienced players.

If you are a beginner and want to play without feeling like you're under scrutiny, Dandy's World offers free private servers. It’s a good idea to practice key activities like machine extraction, avoiding Twisted characters, and baiting on a personal server to learn the mechanics and refine your playstyle. Additionally, if you're not keen on using Poppy or Boxten as your main characters, you can focus on collecting Ichor in solo runs and purchase cheaper toons like Finn and Tisha. For example, Toodles, although inexpensive, has a less favorable reputation, so it's recommended to choose more active toons like Tisha.

Once you're comfortable with the game's mechanics, try finding beginner-friendly runs on public servers or the official Discord. This is an excellent opportunity to practice cooperative gameplay with others.

However, there are claims among users that trolling behavior can be intentional. For instance, some players troll by bringing beginners into the game, stealing bandages and first aid kits, or using stamina when they don't need to. A particularly problematic situation arises when Twisted characters like Sprout or Teegan, or tape abilities are needed, but beginners often consume them all, causing frustration. Another issue arises when a player jumps into a primed machine and immediately changes its status to "completed," disrupting the progress of others. For these reasons, it's often stated in advance to avoid bringing certain toons, such as Poppy, Boxten, or Shrimpo, especially in the early stages of the game.

🍹 Aggro Distribution Problem 🍹

When the main Twisted appears, there are times when players who wish to research the Twisted may take the one that the lure is pulling or beg to have the lure redirect the Twisted.

If the lure loses the Twisted it was guiding, the Twisted may scatter or move to the wrong spot, which wastes time gathering it back. In the worst case, this can lead to your teammates being ambushed and eliminated.

To avoid this, it's better to approach and cooperate with the lure, rather than disturbing them. Ask the attacker to bring the Twisted to the elevator when it’s in panic mode. This allows you to complete your research safely without disturbing the rest of your team.

However, many players (other than decoys) complain that they can't research the necessary Twisted characters because the decoys have low hiding abilities, and the decoys often don’t check the chat. Additionally, some users intentionally troll by using air horns to cause chaos. This problem is still ongoing, and trolling often proves to be a bigger issue than the aggro distribution itself, especially since many beginners immediately run toward the lure as soon as the main Twisted appears.

🤷️ Role Division Problem 🤷️

In Dandy's World, role division is an important topic that needs to be discussed among players. However, communication about roles can be difficult, with some players forcing others to take specific roles based solely on their toon’s stats or accessories. This issue becomes more prominent as the number of new players increases.

If you are a beginner, it's crucial to discuss roles with others before starting. The roles assigned before entering the elevator are essential, so forcing someone into a role can make the experience unpleasant for the player being forced.

Pebble and Sprout are the most common toons affected by this issue.

Unlike kind players who kindly ask Pebble to lure while they play the machine, there are others who force Pebble into a luring role even when they refuse.

Similarly, users sometimes pressure Sprout, based on their speed accessories, to lure Twisted, or even try to steal the machine that Sprout is working on.

Goob has also been subject to similar issues, with many videos showing that Goob's page is unfriendly overseas. Despite Goob's reluctance to lure, some users continue to pressure them because they believe Goob’s stats suggest they should. This pressure, however, often results in Goob being burdened and misunderstood, and from the perspective of many players, this is often seen as trolling.

💥 Nuclear User Problem 💥

Dandy's World is a highly popular game, but with its success comes a rise in hacking activity. As more players join, the number of users encountering hackers has also increased.

Hackers in Dandy's World can engage in various activities, such as flying around the lobby with toons like Poppy or Boxten, using spin hacks, or ragdolling characters to lure others with the Shrimp Cannon. In extreme cases, they can even bring in Twisted characters using a toon with a stealth rating of 4 or higher. The range of hacker activities has expanded, as hackers now have the ability to use Developer-exclusive characters like Toon Dandy and can teleport directly to the elevator from the panic timer after extraction.

The only way to reduce these hackers is to report them through the official Discord’s reporting system.

🗺 Suspicion of Plagiarism 🗺

There have been suspicions of plagiarism regarding Dandy's World, as its gameplay closely resembles that of Minus Altitude. Both games share similar mechanics, such as using an elevator to descend to lower levels, endless progression, avoiding and researching monsters, and even voting decisions in the middle of stages to restart the elevator. The structure of the two games is notably similar. Given that Minus Godot was released in 2021 and Dandy's World appeared in 2024, it’s hard to dismiss the similarity between the major game systems as mere coincidence.
