Sprout, full name Sprout Seedly. He is a strawberry-headed Toon, known for wearing a unique white scarf with thin pink stripes wrapped around his neck and draping elegantly over his back. His distinctive look features five mint green leaves, with three resting atop his head and the other two covering his forehead like bangs. In Sprout's 3D model, additional leaves are added to his bangs, giving him an even more charming appearance. His face is marked with dark red blush and three black freckles on each cheek, highlighting his adorable features. His limbs are a lighter shade of red compared to his head and torso, creating a striking contrast. Sprout's simple yet natural outfit and unique appearance make him a standout character in Dandy's World.
Sprout can be obtained through Dandy's Store.
Sprout is an excellent Supporter and a versatile Toon, making him a great choice for various runs. With a Movement Speed stat of 4 ★ and an impressive 5 ★ Stamina, Sprout excels at distractions. His mobility is top-tier, making him an excellent option for getting in and out of tricky situations. However, Sprout does have one downside: his Extraction proficiency is limited, with only 2 ★ for both Extraction Speed and Skill Check. Luckily, this weakness can be mitigated with Trinkets.
While distraction is a key role for Sprout, it’s not his only use. If there are other distractors like Pebble or Goob in your lobby, it’s often better to let them handle the distractions. Sprout can shine more as a scavenger, gathering Tapes and Items to help heal teammates. Although he can serve as a secondary distractor, his true value comes when he’s focused on healing others in need. This makes Sprout better suited for a backup distraction role rather than a primary one.
Sprout’s greatest strength as a Supporter lies in his active Ability, Sproutability Baked Sweets, which lets Sprout heal any injured Toon within range for 1 heart at the cost of 100 Tapes. This ability can be a game-changer for your team, especially in critical moments. Since Tapes are often scarce, it's essential to prioritize healing the most vulnerable toons, especially distractors and healers who are low on health. Ideally, save around 200 Tapes for emergencies, unless the Floor is particularly dangerous, in which case, focus on keeping your teammates safe. Keep in mind, if there are multiple Sprouts in the same lobby, the cost of his healing ability increases by 50 Tapes per Sprout. Additionally, there's a global healing cooldown of 30 seconds, which can disrupt the gameplay of other Sprouts.
While Sprout's ability is helpful, it’s not the most cost-efficient healing method. Health Kits can heal Sprout for a comparable or even lower cost depending on how many are available in your team, and Bandages cost almost half the amount of Tapes. Given Sprout's critical role, it's wise to save your Tapes in case a Bandage appears in Dandy's Elevator Shop, allowing everyone in your team a chance to purchase it, reducing the overall Tapes risk. Since Sprout cannot heal himself without Bandages or Medkits (or a Cosmo), it’s important to make sure he gets the healing he needs.
Sprout works exceptionally well alongside Cosmo. With Cosmo’s higher stealth and shorter cooldown, they can easily pass Hearts to those in need. Sprout can ‘reimburse’ Cosmo by returning Hearts, and Cosmo can support Sprout in the same way, making their partnership highly effective. However, it’s not ideal to have multiple Sprouts or Teagan in the same party, as this may lead to resource strain.
Sprout's Passive Ability, Overprotective, is an invaluable tool for tracking health. It allows you to see how many hearts a Toon has and where they are located. This is particularly useful for identifying which teammates are most in need of healing. But this ability doesn’t just help with healing; it’s also helpful for other strategic purposes.
Optimizing Routes: While distracting, Sprout can quickly adjust his route without risking running into teammates. This also helps identify if any injured teammates are near, so you can take action before they get in danger. Using this, Sprout can roam and collect Tapes while still performing his distraction duties—though caution should always be exercised.
Tracking Movement: By paying attention to the movements of certain Toons, you can notice if one is repeatedly running in circles or staying still. This can signal that a Toon is distracting a Twisted or working on a Machine. If no one else is distracting, it might be a good idea to step in and take over the distraction role. This can also help identify AFK players.
Elevator Awareness: Sprout is also great at checking the Elevator status. Thanks to his superior movement and the ability to track the number of teammates near the Elevator, Sprout can ensure that the Machine isn't prematurely activated, potentially putting the team at risk. If Hearts are far from the Elevator, Sprout can make sure those teammates are okay before initiating Panic Mode.
Monitoring Individuals: Sprout’s ability to track heart levels gives him an edge when monitoring individual teammates, especially when only one is at a specific heart level. This is especially useful in small parties or when you have certain characters like Shrimpo on your team. Even though it’s a niche ability, any advantage is helpful.
Reporting Danger: Sprout is often the first to notice when a teammate is in danger or critically injured. Using his tracking abilities, he can identify when a Distractor dies or changes position. This information can be vital and may go unreported if not for Sprout's keen eye. Keeping your team informed is key, so be sure to let your Cosmos know of any important changes.
As mentioned earlier, Sprout’s primary role is to gather Tapes and use them to heal teammates during a Run. To achieve this, he can:
Scavenge for and use Items on the ground (preferably Common or Uncommon items)
Some great items to help Sprout grind Tapes include Stealth Candies, Gumballs, and Skill Check Candies/Jumper Cables (which provide bonus Tapes after Machine completions). During Panic Mode, you can safely use any items left behind by teammates to help gather more Tapes.
Engage with Twisteds
Complete Machines
Use Penny Pincher/Spare Change Cards
Using Blind Grab, Lost and Found, and Avaricious/Covetous Cards can also provide a slight advantage for Sprout.
Sprout is a strawberry-themed Toon with a unique appearance. He wears a simple white scarf with delicate pink stripes wrapped around his neck and flowing over his back. Sprout is usually shown with five mint-green leaves. Three of them rest on top of his head, while the other two cover his forehead like bangs. In his 3D model, an additional leaf is added to his bangs for extra flair.
He features a dark red blush and three black freckles on each cheek. His limbs are a bright red, slightly lighter than his strawberry-colored head and torso, making Sprout a striking character.
Sprout is a direct and overprotective Toon, often mentioning Cosmo in many of his interactions. While he means well, he can come across as pushy, especially when he's looking out for other Toons, as seen in Dandy's comments when you buy him, and in his interactions with both Astro and Pebble. Sprout is particularly devoted to his best friend, Cosmo, and shares a passion for baking with them.
At his core, Sprout genuinely cares about the well-being and safety of his fellow Toons, though his caring nature can sometimes make him seem a bit too straightforward or assertive.
Here are some Trinket combinations that Sprout can use:
Movement Speed
Dog Plush/Speedy Shoes
If you're planning to primarily Distract, this Trinket set is perfect for you. The +10% and +5% Walk Speed boosts from both Trinkets will help Sprout Distract Twisteds more effectively while reducing the risk of being hit. You'll be able to outrun most Common/Uncommon Twisteds like Twisted Poppy and Twisted Boxten. With Sprout's large Stamina pool and the +5% Run Speed from Speedy Shoes, distracting Main Characters and faster Twisteds will become much easier.
Extraction
Magnifying Glass/Participation Award
Since Sprout's stats are already solid for Movement Speed, focusing on Extraction can help you gain extra Tapes. The Magnifying Glass boosts Skill Check completions, while the Participation Award gives you more chances for Skill Checks, which is essential for countering Sprout’s low Extraction Speed. This combination is best for solo runs, where you can fully utilize it. However, it might not be ideal in a full party as it requires good timing for Skill Checks.
Tape Collection
Fancy Purse/Any
This Trinket combination gives you an early advantage in Tape collection, providing you with 100 Tapes at the start of the round (if no other Sprouts are in the lobby). Combining Fancy Purse with other Trinkets, like Dog Plush for improved Movement Speed or Vee's Remote for additional Tape collection, can be very beneficial for short, regular runs. It's particularly helpful for new Sprout players but might lose its value in later floors, especially in public lobbies where early heals are often wasted.
Crayon Set/Any
If you're focusing on Heals in public lobbies, Crayon Set is a good choice. It offers Passive income as long as you have an open inventory slot. While it’s more beneficial for longer runs (starting at Floor 5), it can still help you collect Tapes and heal teammates when necessary. This Trinket is better suited for players who are confident with their healing timing.
Healing Guidelines:
► Prioritize Healing Distractors until Floor 5
► Use Emergency Heals (Toons at 1 HP) only above Floor 8
► Heal only when you have more than 150 Tapes, unless necessary
► These guidelines are flexible, and your timing will depend on your personal strategy.
► Fancy Purse/Coin Purse
► Using both Tape-giving Trinkets allows you to get an early advantage on healing but is best for inexperienced Sprout players.
Other
Dog Plush/Vee's Remote
A popular Trinket combination for long or risky runs, it helps Sprout balance both his Distracting and Extraction roles. The +10% Walk Speed from Dog Plush is great for distracting Twisteds when other Distractors are not available. Vee's Remote ensures a steady supply of Tapes, giving you 10 Tapes per floor and assisting with risky Machine completions.
